Anna M. Piras is Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Pisa since 2020. She serves as International Coordinator for the Area of Pharmacy and is a Board Member of the PhD School in Pharmaceutical Sciences, the Specialization School in Hospital Pharmacy (University of Pisa), the Marine Pharmacology Center in Pisa, and the Controlled Release Society (CRS) – Italian Chapter, contributing to advanced drug delivery and translational nanomedicine. Her research focuses on macromolecular cyclodextrin-based complexes and polymeric/ camouflaged nanocarriers for drug delivery, with particular emphasis on protein therapeutics and pulmonary, ocular, and injectable administration routes. She collaborates with clinicians and industry partners to advance translational research, including drug repurposing and the development of scalable nanomedicine platforms for clinical and market applications. She has authored over 90 publications, 5 book chapters, and holds 10 patents.
