He coordinated the initiative <em>Measuring the Progress of Societies: A Perspective from Mexico<\/em>, which was a corresponding chapter of the <em>Global Project on Measuring the Progress of Societies<\/em>. He is professor of Economics at <em>Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales, Sede M\u00e9xico<\/em> and at <em>Universidad Popular Aut\u00f3noma del Estado de Puebla<\/em>, Mexico. He got his undergraduate degree in economics from Universidad de Costa Rica, and he has <em>M.A.<\/em> and <em>Ph.D<\/em> degrees in economics from The Ohio State University, United States. His areas of research are: Subjective Well-Being, Quality of Life, Economic Development, and Applied Microeconomics. He has published about 100 papers and book chapters on happiness-related issues, as well as two books on happiness: <em>El Estudio Cient\u00edfico de la Felicidad<\/em> and <em>\u00bfPuede la Econom\u00eda dar la Felicidad?<\/em> He is the editor of the <em>Handbook of Happiness Research in Latin America<\/em> and the co-editor of <em>the Global Handbook of Quality of Life: Exploration of Well-being of Nations and Continents<\/em>.
