András Perczel

Dr. András Perczel’s research focuses on uncovering the spatial structure and dynamics of biomolecules, primarily proteins and peptides. His expertise lies in combining modern multidimensional NMR spectroscopy, cryo-electron microscopy, and quantum chemical modeling for structural determination. He pays particular attention to the processes of protein self-assembly and amyloid formation, which are at the core of diseases such as Alzheimer’s or type 2 diabetes. In his laboratory, they develop innovative peptide synthesis technologies and flow chemistry procedures, incorporating non-natural amino acids. His work forms a direct bridge between fundamental research and drug development, specifically aiding the design of new types of therapeutic agents.
