Christiane Gerke

Christiane Gerke, PhD, is the Head of Vaccine Programs and Vaccine Innovation Development at Institut Pasteur, Paris, France, a not-for-profit research institute with
a mission to prevent and fight against infectious diseases. Christiane has > 15 years of expertise in vaccine research and development in industry and academia and
supports a divers vaccine candidate portfolio from the bench through manufacturing
and regulatory applications to Phase I and II clinical trials and/or partnerships. She also co-heads the newly created Institut Pasteur Vaccinology and Immunotherapy Initiative. Before joining Institut Pasteur in 2015, she was Shigella Project Lead and Technology Platform Lead at Novartis Vaccines Institute for Global Health, spearheading the development of vaccines based on a novel technology of outer membrane particles called GMMA (Generalized Modules for Membrane Antigens).
Christiane received her PhD in Microbial Genetics at the University of Tübingen,
Germany, and trained as post doc at Stanford University in immunology and host-
pathogen interactions.
